Footage tsunami hit the beach. A word of warning to those on Twitter today: the sun has already gone down for the night in Japan and news media has not broadcast any images of tsunamis causing major damage. if you see tsunami videos on social media, a lot will probably be mislabeled footage from 2011.
Strong quake under the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. NHK Japan is showing a 5-meter [not 3] tsunami alert for the Japan Sea coast. Shaking up to 6-upper in Ishikawa and 6-lower in Niigata. A magnitude 7.4 Richter with an Shindo Intensity of 7 has occurred, off the coast of Noto Peninsula, Hokuriku region, 42 km NE of Anamizu, with a depth of 10 km, at 01/01 16:10 JST. Tokyo is fine but Japan sea side is critical risk in tsunami and falling of snow. NHK broadcaster right now encouraged ‘please evacuate.’

That earth quake in Noto must have been huge. Very long and big wobbles. ‘Major’ quake like this since 3/11 or Fukushima earthquake tragedy [19,759 casualties, March 11, 2011]. Estimate danger area in Hokuriku, Niigata and Ishikawa. Local train stopped.
