Even though Biden speech was intended for a domestic audience, the whole world is obviously watching. The US has put a great deal of effort in appealing to the global south/non-aligned world on a range of important issues, including to support Ukraine. Xi Jinping likely wants a long Israeli-Hamas war, because it may distract the United States from defending Taiwan, among many other reasons. "China’s Xi seeks swift end to Israel-Hamas conflict, calls for two-state solution."

Biden denunciation of antisemitism and Islamophobia and assertion of shared American identity and unity were powerful. Overall the speech was disappointing and dishonest, and again, indirectly made some thoughts for some people ‘US literally still greenlight’ genocide to entire Palestinian. 2 Hours ago, detail assistance for Israel issue or Israel/Gaza:

Biden’s equivalence between Israel and Ukraine in yesterday’s speech is false and offensive. Russia is occupying Ukraine in an effort to end Ukrainian self-determination. The new problem, with the US government rapidly careening toward the next deadline for a budget deal in mid-November, the collapse of the last-ditch James Daniel ‘Jim’ Jordan campaign puts jeopardy on budgeting in 2 battlefronts [Ukraine, Israel]. The bill allows the government to stay open for 45 days [15/16 November], started Sept 30. And now already Oct 20. The assistance given to countries like Sudan and Yemen are nothing compared to the vast quantities, gigantic quantities in number of humanitarian, economic, and military aid our government has poured into similarly war-torn Ukraine.

Israel is doing the same to Palestine. Israel’s methods are not as extreme as Russia because Russia is [former] superpower, and Russia [around 150 million, not including Russia descent from / result of mail bride, some analyst in extreme says 30 million] has 15x population of Israel [around 9 million].

Netanyahu said explicitly: Israel helped sustain Hamas in power in Gaza, sending money to Hamas since 2019, precisely because it served that goal, the prevention of Palestinian independence. What I will not do, however, is pretend that history began on October 7. I will not pretend, and no one should pretend, that Israel is acting purely in self-defense. Veteran Haaretz journalist Amira Hass has reported from the Occupied Palestinian Territories for decades and says the Israeli public is "drunk with the will to take revenge" on Palestinians, spurred on by a far-right government dominated by "extreme fascist settlers" using bloodbath of October 7.

Israel's occupation, and the various acts of violence against civilians it comprises, the settlement / colonization project it facilitates, are a war crime, in fact multiple war crimes, committed every single day, for years. Israeli government under extreme hawkish Bibi Netanyahu is using methods right now against Palestinians that no one hesitates to call terrorism when used by Russia against Ukraine. (Indeed, not only do many of our politicians not criticize it, they cheer it on.)

Headline from the only democracy in the Middle East: "At least 100 Israelis have been arrested for social media posts supporting Palestinians in Gaza and 70 remain in detention." Netanyahu turn Israel to be a fascist country with directly and indirectly help by Biden.

When one understands the vast machinery of violence and control and segregation that Israel imposes on Palestinians, the suggestion that Israelis are the ones in this relationship facing an existential threat just seems like gaslighting.

This is a remarkable passage: “You know, history has taught us that when terrorists don’t pay a price for their terror, when dictators don’t pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos and death and more destruction. They keep going.”

Biden so close to getting it. He could be describing the US’s refusal to impose, and its ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent, any consequences whatsoever for Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians. To make sure Israel pays no price.

Biden’s words about international law are nice and welcome, but in the absence of any genuine accountability, that’s all they are. I would also note that unconditional US support has been wind at the back of the Israeli far right. And importantly: it has not made Israel secure.

Previously thought Biden’s effort to sell a US-Saudi defense pact by wrapping it in a “Saudi-Israel normalization” candy coating was the most cynical thing I’d seen from this president. But equating Israel with Ukraine to try and break the logjam on Ukraine aid tops that. Maybe it works in the short term, but there are longer term costs. I think we may be surprised at how much this is turning off younger Democrats, who see right through this stuff.

The world can see the allegedly civilized West’s double standard, NOT ONLY UN Security Council issues [2x US vetoed resolution]. Biden’s speech probably put it in the grave. To that extent, a propaganda victory for Putin and Xi Jinping.

The US needs to use its influence to ensure a more equitable approach, one which genuinely recognizes the rights, security, and dignity of Palestinians and Israelis alike. Not just in rhetoric, but action. This is critical for US credibility. US citizen have already seen who pays the price about using money from taxpayer on Israeli barbaric, genocide in the Middle East. All Palestinian
