George Anthony Devolder Santos, an ally [both] for former Speaker Kevin Owen McCarthy and now Speaker Mike Johnson, out. The House has voted to expel Republican Rep. George Anthony Devolder Santos, a historic move that hasn’t happened in more than 20 years. 311-114-2 and surprisingly 105 GOP YES VOTES to expel Santos. Lookalike GOP relief because no longer has a liability about clown in the capitol.
Exactly last November 2022 or last midterm, Santos won over Democrat Rob Zimmerman. The won of Santos to be part of historic GOP achievement in NY state, although Dems still majority in NY. For 1st time, GOP got ‘double digit’ [11] representatives, although Democrat still majority with 15 reps.
As the circus over Botox, OnlyFans and fake loans dies down, the focus on Long Island will shift to Democrats' very real opportunity to flip a GOP seat nine months ahead of the 2024 election. May 10th, 2023, or nearly 7 months ago, Rep. George Anthony Devolder Santos, the freshman Republican congressman whose myriad falsehoods became both a scandal and a national punchline, was charged with a host of financial crimes in court papers.
Per New York law, Gov. Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Hochul would be required to proclaim an open seat within ten days of a vacancy and schedule a special election to be held between 70 and 80 days thereafter. That would mean a stand-alone special election in late February. President Biden carried this Nassau County seat 53%-45% in 2020.
NY03 was one of 18 districts that would have voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election had they existed in their current configuration while being won or held by a Republican in 2022.
NY-03 is the wealthiest congressional district in New York, and in 2022, was the fourth-wealthiest nationally. It is also one of two districts (along with New York's 11th) where Republicans represent a portion of New York City.
