Tireless Israeli Still Say No to Netanyahu, and Indonesian Must Be Shy "Cannot Same Tireless" Just Because (Losing) World Cup
Indonesians must be shy with tireless Israeli boycotting Netanyahu, boycotting the government itself. I’m really proud, (was) fangirling Queen Amidala — Natalie Portman (she's been vocal - anti Netanyahu since a long time ago, of course Natalie Hershlag is Jewish).
My beloved country Indonesia was facing a riot in 1998. Across cities in Indonesia. My beloved country was facing another (minor) riot after Presidential Election, in Jakarta, 2019, but only 60k protesters (*I was in this area of riot to share meals to [both] police - firefighters and protesters.
But, check again the numbers:
13 weeks consecutive, with protesters more than 160k daily (on March 26th, maybe 800k) only in Tel Aviv, not counting other cities in Israel. Israel's population is only 9.7 million (Jakarta population, area 600 km square, has 11 million population). Currently, at 9: 33 pm in Israel, a minimum 230k protesters still shout no to Netanyahu.
Matt Duss: former adviser of foreign policy for Bernie Sanders. Sanders may run (again) for 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. Of course, Sanders is Jewish
Only 50-60 km from Tel Aviv tonight: IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) still (try) killing brutally Palestinian, so far in Beit Ummar. Imagine: still manage massive protesters, and keep brutally to Palestine, in same minute.
At least 31 hours ago, Muhammad Al Asibi killed by IDF in Al Aqsa Jerusalem. Al-Asibi intervened to defend a girl who was harassed by the Israeli troops stationed at Al-Aqsa's gates, before he was shot & killed. Al Asibi is 27th killed by IDF only between March 1-March 31 2023. If timeline widening, since January 1st 2023 - March 31 = 93 Palestinian killed by Israeli.
On Thursday, FIFA decided to strip Indonesia as host, move to Argentina for World Cup 2023 U20.
On Friday, Palestine government said (respond about Indonesia stripped):
“While taking a split-second decision to bar Russia from international competitions over its invasion of the Ukraine, both the IOS and FIFA have refrained for decades from taking any small measure against Israel for its illegal occupation of Palestine, its ongoing violations against human rights, its racism, segregation and systematic destruction of Palestinian infrastructure. Instead, FIFA decides to punish those who stand with the victims, rather than punish the perpetrators. Indonesia would not have been in this situation had FIFA enforced its rules in the case of Israel as it did in Russia. We regret that this has caused Indonesia to lose its hosting rights, but assure every supporter of our just cause that more countries will soon be following in Indonesia’s footsteps. Apartheid needs to be opposed.”
5 Hours ago. Manchester City is currently one of the elite teams under PUMA sponsors, so, using the big match Manchester City vs Liverpool, PUMA announced severe ties with Israel. PUMA statement “calling Israel's treatment of the Palestinians "Racist" and "Apartheid"”
The undiminished numbers on the start of Week 13 of the pro-democracy protests across Israel prove Netanyahu has failed to calm the fears his government still plans legislation against the Supreme Court. If anything, his promise of a private militia to Ben-Gvir just stoked them.
The protest movement won’t bring Netanyahu down directly, but they are staying in the streets to ensure that the legislation against the Supreme Court isn’t brought back and the opposition doesn’t compromise in the talks with the president. It will keep the heat up on Bibi Netanyahu. This week's demonstration is marked by the prominent display of US flags, following the clash between Netanyahu's government and the Biden administration. Israel is currently undergoing a period of revolutionary change, and the pace of events can be difficult to keep up with, even for those residing and working here.
Since the opposition can’t agree to the government’s demand for control over appointments to the Supreme Court, a compromise is unlikely. Parts of the coalition (Deri, Gallant, Bitan) are unlikely to agree now to re-introduce the original legislation, Netanyahu is stuck. Netanyahu can’t deliver the legislation he promised. He can’t fire his defense minister (despite announcing he would), no-one in Likud will take the job now and Deri is against. His control over the government is weakening. Which is dangerous seeing who some of the ministers are. Likud’s attempts to muster counter-protests not going very well. Barely a minyan opposite the pro-democracy rally this evening in Jerusalem.
Future of Israel on stake.
*ps: please don’t get me wrong.
Although I (oftenly) write about Israel tension, one of my beloveds is Jewish. Only God know the future.
