Heated IKN / NEW CAPITAL CITY INDONESIA [NUSANTARA] debate but awkward between two persons linkage with Surya Paloh: Meutya Viada Hafid - Ansyah [former Paloh’s staff in MEDIA INDONESIA, works around 9 years under Paloh] and Anies Rasyid Baswedan [presidential candidate endorsed by Paloh].
Meutya, ‘pro - development pro - growth pro - infrastructure’, successfully pushed the government to relocate &/ create a new airport [KUALA NAMU – very huge airport, far from density] after the tragedy in Polonia Airport 2005 [airplane Boeing 737-200, made year 1981, crash and a lot of residents near Polonia airport also killed, total 149 killed], of course defending IKN. Not only because Meutya, now in Golkar, currently supports Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo - Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Gibran, son of ‘Jokowi’ Joko Widodo , ‘de facto’ Golkar member same as Meutya.
for illustration - comparison with POLONIA: HEATHROW
President Jokowi visit North Sumatera, of course, landed in KUALA NAMU. North Sumatera is hometown of Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, [some people says] ‘ALL IN MINISTER’ ; JACK OF ALL TRADES’ Jokowi, currently serious - intensive treatment in Singapore, nearly 2 months, after fatigue acute.
KUALA NAMU AIRPORT is a landmark - also a benchmark for other airports, built as huge as possible, and [very] far from cities. Following KUALA NAMU, in Indonesia has built another new airport such as NYIA [New Yogyakarta International Airport], Dhoho Airport Kediri, etc. KUALA NAMU to be 3rd biggest airport around Malacca straits after Changi and KLIA [KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT].
More context her [Meutya] linkage with airport and infrastructure:
On 11 October 2007, Hafid was selected as the winner of the Elizabeth O'Neill Journalism Award, rewarded by the government of Australia. The award is given annually to commemorate and honor former Australian Embassy Press Attache Elizabeth O'Neill, who died while working on a plane crash in Yogyakarta [Adi Sutjipto Airport], on 7 March 2007. My lecture very lucky, too late to the airport, so she’s safe, not including in same plane.
The Yogyakarta crash created another diplomatic pain for Indonesia: ban from European Union [skies] for all Indonesian airlines, and must spend 7 years intense-diplomatic manouvre [and buy a lot of Airbus] so EU agree to reopen again for Indonesia airlines]. Same Polonia crash [ended with the closing of Polonia but build new airport - KUALA NAMU], Yogyakarta crash pushes government to build a new airport in Kulonprogo - NEW YOGYAKARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, meanwhile Adisutjipto back to primary purpose, for exercise of Indonesian air force. Currently Indonesia government still has a lot of problem with European Union: CPO / Crude Palm Oil and [19 hours ago] stainless-steel cold-rolled.
Anies, reiterating former Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal, signaled that a lot of ambassador in Indonesia ‘must think 3-4 times again’ to build [again] a new compound in IKN, especially if [already] renovate existing buildings in Jakarta. U.S., France, UK, Australia, Qatar, South Korea already renovate and or make a very huge investment for [existing] buildings in Jakarta.
For more context, US government must makesure sells old building in Grosvenor Square [to Qatar government] so US government really has a budget to rebuilt new compound [in 33 Nine Elms Lane].
