Simply Pope, The Largest Holders Real Estate in The World, and Lavish Southeast Asia Dynasty: Reflection Pope Visit
Vatican owns over $70 billion in real estate globally through company-owned [Vatican bank] church and park. Some estimates place their holdings at over $120 billion. The Vatican’s close rival about property is McDonalds Key real estate stats. Vatican is one of the largest holders of real estate in the world. Pope Francis in Jakarta, 4-days, decide to rest in Vatican Embassy, not 5-star hotel, coincidentally Vatican embassy is only 150ft from US Embassy [2nd biggest foreign embassy building in Indonesia after Australia], and only 800ft from Indonesia Presidential Palace. The most stunning, although Vatican actually ‘crazy rich’, Vatican building embassy in Jakarta one of smallest embassy building, and even, poorer country such as North Korea [located in Latuharhary Menteng, elite district in Jakarta] have a bigger embassy building than Vatican.
2 Giants, Vatican and McDonalds, was on spat and even in Vatican itself. Every now and again problems arise relating to how real estate around the Vatican is used.
The latest such headache concerns a bid by the McDonald’s fast food chain to open a restaurant on Vatican-owned property, just a few steps from St. Peter’s Square.
The office responsible for managing Vatican property, the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA), has agreed to the idea. Some of the seven cardinals living in a block above the proposed new diner are not so keen and have protested by writing a letter to Pope Francis, asking him to intervene.
According to Il Fatto Quotidiano, Cardinals Gianfranco Ravasi, Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, Dario Castrillon Hoyos and Manuel Monteiro de Castro warned it would “bring chaos” to the area, disturb the “quietness of the building” and produce unpleasant “odors” which are likely to pass along the elevator shaft.
Cardinal Elio Sgreccia, a former president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, has publicly voiced his opposition to the move, telling the Italian daily La Repubblica it is “a controversial, perverse decision to say the least". The Italian cardinal doesn’t live in the property, a former bank that borders Borgo Pio and Piazza Leonina, but spoke on behalf of the residents who wrote to the Pope. Cardinals Walter Kasper and George Pell also live in the block and Benedict XVI was resident there when he was a cardinal.
Opening a McDonald’s so close to the Vatican basilica is "not at all respectful of the architectural traditions of one of the most characteristic squares which look onto the colonnade of Saint Peter’s, visited everyday by thousands of pilgrims and tourists,” Cardinal Sgreccia said.
Back to Indonesia
Indonesia's anti-graft agency plans to ask the youngest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to clarify his use of a private jet on a recent overseas trip as well as who paid for the travel.
Real anger to ‘Mulyono Dynasty’, a Jokowi family, show very lavish lifestyle especially in the last 2 years. Indonesia social media users, twitterati [x users / twitter users], tiktokers, facebookers, across different platforms have been sharing a mock-up of an emergency alert system to express concerns over a possible constitutional crisis following the House of Representatives’ move to subvert a Constitutional Court ruling that lowers the electoral threshold for the November regional head elections.
The picture, showing the national emblem Garuda Pancasila against a blue background with the words “Peringatan Darurat” (emergency warning), was taken from a video of a made-up emergency system uploaded by YouTube channel EAS Indonesia Concept in 2022.
The video was reportedly uploaded as part of an analog horror movie project. But since Wednesday [August 22], the mock-up has gone viral as a symbol of criticism of the lawmakers’ move, with social media personalities posting the picture on their accounts.
Correcting Jokowi
The picture is often accompanied by messages claiming that Indonesia’s democracy is in a state of emergency. “The country’s democracy is really in a state of emergency,” wrote former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Abraham Samad on social media platform X on Wednesday. “We’re witnessing a constitutional robbery at the House.”
On X or Twitter, the screen grab had been shared more than 231,000 times as of Thursday afternoon [August 23]. Television personality Najwa Shihab shared the picture on her Instagram account, and it had been reshared by 53,000 accounts on the platform. On Thursday afternoon, the post had received more than 3.8 million likes. A post from the lead singer of Efek Rumah Kaca, Cholil Mahmud, one of the first people to upload the image, has been shared more than 8,000 times.
Make Nepotism Fall Again
Writer Okky Madasari said the image had become a symbol of resistance against efforts to violate the Constitution. "The country is in an emergency. A country led by criminals, who are laughing on their way to tear up the Constitution," Okky wrote in an Instagram post. In three back-to-back meetings on Wednesday, the House Legislation Body (Baleg) rushed to revise the prevailing 2016 Regional Elections Law, just a week before the three-day registration period for candidates backed by political parties, which opens on Aug. 27.
Indonesia's parliament shelved planned changes to electoral laws on Thursday after protesters in the capital set fires and faced down tear gas and water cannon over legislation they say would weaken opponents of the outgoing president and his successor.

The legislature, dominated by supporters of outgoing President Joko Widodo and his successor, Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo, was scheduled to vote to reverse changes to election laws made by the constitutional court, a ruling that effectively reopened a chance for a vocal government critic to run in regional elections.
Parties backing Prabowo had earlier since July rallied behind a single candidate for the influential post of Jakarta governor, killing off chances of the president-elect's rival, Anies Baswedan, from running.
Anies at the time needed the backing from a party or a coalition of parties with at least 20% of seats in the local parliament, under rules for regional elections in place since 2016.
But Tuesday's Constitutional Court [Aug 20] ruling had lowered the threshold to under 10%, giving Anies a chance to be nominated by the only party that has not named a candidate, PDIP.
The national parliament had sought to return to the previous threshold, contradicting the country's highest court in a move critics said would favour the outgoing president and his family, and the incoming government, as they consolidate power and freeze out any opposition.
"This is a republic. It's a democracy, but if its leadership is decided by one person, or an oligarchy, we can't accept that," said 29-year-old teacher Afif Sidik.
The revision, supported by eight party factions at the House, lowers the nomination threshold, but it only applies to small political parties with no seats in the local legislature. Such a provision is in contrast with the Constitutional Court ruling, issued on Tuesday, that mandated the lower threshold for all parties.
The ruling was seen by many as potentially opening the door for popular former Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan and others proposed by opposition political parties to run. The Baleg also declared the minimum age of candidacy applied at the time of inauguration, not registration, potentially paving the way for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s youngest son Kaesang Pangarep to run in the upcoming simultaneous regional elections.
The decision was also in contravention of the court’s legal opinion that asserted that a candidate should meet all requirements, including the minimum age, at the time they register with the General Elections Commission (KPU). The Baleg meeting sparked widespread criticism among the public and protests at the Senayan legislative complex and the Constitutional Court building in Jakarta, urging lawmakers to cancel the move to revise the Regional Elections Law.
Protests also erupted in other cities, including Bandung, West Java; Semarang, Central Java and Makassar, South Sulawesi. Aside from the mock-up emergency alert, hashtag #KawalPutusanMK (protect the Constitutional Court ruling) also gained traction on social media. On X, more than 1.6 million posts containing the tagline were made as of Thursday. Civil groups have also used social media to spread awareness regarding the House’s subversion of the Constitutional Court ruling.
On Wednesday, graft watchdog Transparency International Indonesia defended the court on X, asserting the Constitutional Court’s role as “the Constitution’s main interpreter”; therefore, its ruling should become a basis for all state institutions. “Those who are working to annul the court ruling are trying to violate the Constitution,” the group wrote.

We as Muslim prohibited to fasting at least 6 days for entire year [365, or 366 in leap year]. 2 Days Eid Fitr / Eid el-Fitr [1 Shawwal and 2 Shawwal / Syawal Syawwal], Day of Eid Adha / Eid el-Adha [10 Dzulhijjah / Dhul-Hijjah - today], and days of Tashriq [11th, 12th and 13th Dhul-Hijjah / Dzulhijjah, or in Gregorian Calendar 2024, the days of Tashriq means 17-19 June]. But doesn’t mean prohibited for ‘less eating or hunger strike.’ As sacrifice in DC at least 13 days by Jennifer Koonings just because her protest about Gaza, I keep ‘eating less’ not only for her but also for Palestine, at least until 19 June. And for June 20th, back again for nonmandatory fasting, normally 17-18 hours, as even Jennifer, with her gut, sacrifice herself for Gaza. Wisdom quote I hear since war [Israel - Gaza] nonstop ‘’...You can't make people care about a genocide happening right in front of their eyes. They either do immediately, or a chip is missing up there, and they never will.’
For solidarity, since she started to hunger strike, I put myself eat 1 very tiny plate/day for break the fasting and for entire day after, extreme fasting 16.5 hours [based on my location]. I’m still continued for hunger strike, because its very easy. In last 17 years, I already [minimum] 340 days / year to fasting [29 - 30 days for mandatory fasting for muslim, ramadan session, the rest is voluntary fasting / sunnah].
