Unexpected [Re]Recognize Palestine by Ukraine & Formal Recognize by Slovenia, Both [Very] Dependence with NATO and U.S.

November 19th, 1988, just 4 days after Indonesia recognize Palestine as a state, 5 countries, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Namibia, and Vietnam, follow Indonesia’s step. Even Ukraine earlier 24 hours if compare China [November 20th, 1988]. Between 15-30 November 1988, at least 63 countries recognize Palestine. If we put 15 November - Christmas 1988, already 80 countries recognize Palestine, with 80th country is Bhutan [recognize on Christmas 1988].

But statement by Zelenksy, at least 2 stunning statements by him in Singapore, the longest trip of him since Russia - Ukraine war started, really unexpected. Zelensky hit out at China, accusing the country of helping Russia derail a peace summit this month in Switzerland. Second, Zelensky says Ukraine recognizes both Israel and Palestine, seeks to end suffering of civilians.

With Slovenia, Palestine is now recognized by 147 states, or 3/4 UN member states. Israel is recognised by 165 of 193.

Ukraine already ‘de facto’ recognize Israel since May 11st, 1949 or less 1 year after Nakba 1948 [May 14th, 1948], but recognize Israel ‘de jure’ even 3 years late than Ukraine recognize Palestine. ‘De Jure’ recognize Israel by Ukraine on December 26th, 1991, immediately recognize Israel, hour after Dissolution of the USSR [Uni Sovyet], after Mikhail Gorbachev issued Declaration № 142-Н of the Soviet of the Republics of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, formally establishing the dissolution of the Soviet Union as a sovereign state and subject of international law.

Zelensky seems to have fairly radically changed his earlier appalling position on Israel-Palestine. This is good news for Ukraine and for all of us. It was really shameful for the leader of an occupied multicultural nation to side with a genocidal occupying ethnostate.

Slovenia is smaller about everything issues if compare with Ukraine. Only 20,271 km² (7,827 sq mi) no.150th dependency by area, if compare with Ukraine [603,628 km² or (233,062 sq mi)]. Slovenia’s population only 2,123,103, if compare with Ukraine [33 million].

Slovenia is bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, Croatia to the south and southeast, and a short coastline within the Adriatic Sea to the southwest. Thanks about ‘Nuclear Sharing’ agreement inside NATO, so up to 2 locations in Italy as ‘silo, host’ nuclear weapon, in Aviano Airbase and Ghedi Airbase. 4 Other locations are Kleine Brogel Airbase [Belgium], Buchel Airbase [Germany], Volkel Airbase [Netherland], and Incirlik Airbase [Turkiye].

No one really idiot to invaded Italy, so relatively Slovenia also very safe, contrast if compare the fate of Ukraine, side-by-side directly with Russia. de facto border between Russia and Ukraine is different from the legal border recognized by the United Nations. As of 2024, Russia is militarily occupying a significant portion of Ukraine since war started [February 24th, 2022]. According to a 2016 statement by Viktor Nazarenko, the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government did not control some 409.3 kilometres (254.3 mi) of the international border with Russia.

Although very safe because side-by-side with Italy, Slovenia still decide to adopt Foreign Policy in which very heavily dependence with NATO and also United States, especially after Ukraine - Russia war started. But doesn’t mean Slovenia failed to care about Palestine.

So far Slovenia :

• Intervened in Ukraine v. Russia

• On UNGA voting since October 2023 or after Israel - HAMAS started, Slovenia choose decision very solid leaning to Palestine

• Supports South Africa v. Israel in ICJ

• Participating in ICJ advisory proceeding on legal consequences of Israeli occupation of Palestine

Too dependent to NATO and or United States, sometimes ended up with dilemma especially in [every] UNGA voting.

PIF [Pacific Island Forum] really dependence with US aid, that’s why Nauru, Palau, Micronesia, PNG say no for Palestine membership, when all Global South say yes.

To make sure, how hard ‘competition of influence’ on Pacific between China and US, Vanuatu, the hottest battle US-China in Pacific Island, says abstain, not yes, but also not ‘no’ like Nauru-Palau-Micronesia-Papua New Guinea
