24 Hours after Election Debate
IKN - INDONESIA NEW CAPITAL CITY ‘NUSANTARA’ 10.10pm
Prabowo and the new ‘Goebbels’ for Prabowo, Mas / Mr Budiman Sudjatmiko. Budiman also former activist.
Mas / Mister Nezar Patria is a former activist, and was part of [or victim] abductions of pro-democracy activists which happened between the 1997 Indonesian Legislative Election and the fall of Suharto in the 1998 / May 1998 riot.
Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo kidnapped 23 anti-Suharto activists in 1998. Thirteen are still missing. The 13 missing activists are only some of the many other ghosts haunting Prabowo. They are the reasons why, as an Indonesian, I'll never vote for him. He's been found guilty of the kidnapping by a military council before his dismissal and voluntary exile to Jordan.
Among the many ghosts that haunt him, many of them are East Timorese people. Prabowo served there at least 4 times, mostly with the secretive Kopassus, and was likely a lieutenant during the height of the war and the famine of 1977-1978. Among the long list of things Kissinger did in Southeast Asia: He gave Suharto the go-ahead to invade Timor Leste / Timor Timur / Timor Loro Sae, led by [commander] Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo as chief of [special force unit for Timor Leste issue] SEROJA GROUP / SEROJA FORCE— now Presidential candidate again in Indonesia, launching a bloody civil war that left as many as 200,000 dead. For years after, even after Timor Leste gained independence, Kissinger denied his role.
Interviews with 75+ witnesses and survivors of U.S. attacks and an exclusive archive of documents show that Henry Kissinger is responsible for more civilian deaths in Cambodia than was previously known.
Awkward, although Kissinger is ‘sinful, warlord’ for Cambodian, Prabowo is hero for Cambodian, thanks for ‘very active’ trio Soeharto - Prabowo - [former Foreign Minister of Indonesia] Ali Alatas to end the Cambodia conflict, especially JAKARTA INFORMAL MEETING 1997.
Prabowo has not answered for most of his alleged and proven crimes. And he does not take questions about these seriously, and he's been allowed to do so because of his popularity. But the ghosts are still there. Following him, haunting him.
Ghosts are powerful. They create curses that will not give us peace unless we give them a voice. Until we at least try to understand them. And Prabowo is followed by too many silent ghosts whose soul and stories are murdered again and again, violently and openly.
Now Prabowo is the most popular candidate among young Indonesians, in 2 ‘golden standard of pollster’, Prabowo led more than 20 percent. Dear my young Indonesian friends: this guy was found responsible for kidnapping young people when he was in power. Young people he called 'traitors to the nation'. You want to give the power to this guy?
Rewrite again, the two-hour and twenty-six minutes election debate on Tuesday evening among the candidates seeking to succeed outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo saw Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo, Ganjar Pranowo, and Anies Rasyid Baswedan trade barbs on the hot-button issues of IKN - NEW CAPITAL CITY ‘NUSANTARA, law, corruption, human rights, democracy, and governance.
He might be showing an image of a kind, humorous, 'man of the people' these days. But he is no more than the king of cringe in the style of Trump: in 2014 he rode a $300,000 horse when he launched his election bid and then threw a tantrum, rejecting the result, when he lost. YEARS ago he said ‘MACAN ASIA’ [The Tiger of Asia’], now ‘GEMOY - ABLE’ [very / too smooth to dancing].
I'm struggling to decide whom to give my vote to next year. And also this is not only about Prabowo; it is also the failures of Jokowi who has failed so miserably in upholding human rights in Indonesia. So there's that, too.
As the curtains fall on Jokowi’s decade of rule, he may be remembered more for ushering in a new era of democratic decline. Even his capstone initiative, what was meant to be a sprawling monument to his legacy—the development of a new capital called Nusantara, to replace the existing capital in Jakarta beginning as soon as next year—looks to embody such a backsliding.
the information.
Jokowi scrambled at home, star syndrome, some people already said Jokowi is ‘Soeharto 2.0’, but like a lot tactic by President or Prime Minister across the world, if difficult moment or scramble at home, using foreign policy may help [Palestine, Rohingya, COP28, etc]. If Prabowo and Jokowi son Gibran won the election [February 14th, 2024], its lookalike setback for Indonesia democracy.

Gaza 9.09am
The aerial bombing campaign by Israel in Gaza is the most indiscriminate in terms of civilian casualties in recent years, a study published by an Israeli newspaper has found.
The analysis in Haaretz came as Israeli forces fought to consolidate their control of northern Gaza on Saturday, bombing the Shejaiya district of Gaza City, while also conducting airstrikes on Rafah, a town on the southern border with Egypt where the Israeli army has told people in Gaza to take shelter.
The full death toll from the past 24 hours was unclear but the main hospital in central Gaza, at Deir al-Balah, reported it received 71 bodies, and 62 bodies were taken to Nasser hospital in the main southern city of Khan Younis, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Haaretz published an analysis by Yagil Levy, a sociology professor at the Open University of Israel, which found that in three earlier campaigns in Gaza, in the period from 2012-22, the ratio of civilian deaths to the total of those killed in airstrikes hovered at about 40%. That ratio declined to 33% in a bombing campaign earlier this year, called Operation Shield and Arrow.
In the first three weeks of the current operation, Swords of Iron, the civilian proportion of total deaths rose to 61%, in what Levy described as “unprecedented killing” for Israeli forces in Gaza. The ratio is significantly higher than the average civilian toll in all the conflicts around the world during the 20th century, in which civilians accounted for about half the dead, according to Levy.
“The broad conclusion is that extensive killing of civilians not only contributes nothing to Israel’s security, but that it also contains the foundations for further undermining it,” Levy concluded. “The Gazans who will emerge from the ruins of their homes and the loss of their families will seek revenge that no security arrangements will be able to withstand.”
The study confirms an investigation 10 days ago by the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine and the Hebrew-language outlet Local Call, which found Israel was deliberately targeting residential blocks to cause mass civilian casualties in the hope people would turn on their Hamas rulers. The figures will make uneasy reading for the Biden administration, which is facing global criticism and isolation for vetoing a UN security council vote for a ceasefire on Friday.
The US national security spokesperson, John Kirby, repeated that claim while briefing reporters on Air Force One on Friday, but added: “We certainly all recognise more can be done to try to reduce civilian casualties, and we’re going to keep working with our Israeli counterparts to that end.”
Kirby was speaking as the Biden administration faced allegations of abetting war crimes for vetoing the security council resolution.
Human Rights Watch said the US risked “complicity in war crimes” by continuing to provide Israel with weapons and diplomatic support. Paul O’Brien, the executive director of Amnesty International USA, said: “With this veto, the US government is shamefully turning its back on immense civilian suffering, a staggering death toll, and unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.”
The Saudi foreign minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, met the US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, in Washington on Friday night to maintain pressure for “urgent steps” to establish a ceasefire so humanitarian aid could be delivered.
In the face of global criticism, US officials stressed the role the US has played in pushing for humanitarian deliveries to Gaza through the Rafah crossing point. Kirby said a US military transport plane had landed in Egypt on Friday carrying nearly 26,000kg (57,000lbs) of food, water, and medicine bound for Gaza.
“We’re certainly mindful of the suffering of the people of Gaza, and we’re doing everything we can to not just get stuff in there but to lead an actual international effort to get stuff in there,” he said.
Kirby said fewer than 100 trucks had crossed through the Rafah gate on Friday, about half the daily volume that entered Gaza during a week-long humanitarian ceasefire at the end of last month.
“Obviously that’s not at the level that we want it to be at,” he said, noting that Israel was preparing to open an additional inspection facility at Kerem Shalom on the Israel-Gaza border, which is expected to ease the most significant bottleneck, inspection capacity.
However, the UN and other aid agencies say that even when trucks enter the Gaza Strip at Rafah, the ground offensive in southern Gaza and the general lack of security is preventing the supplies from being distributed, at a time of a high and rising threat of starvation and disease.
The IDF said it had failed in a hostage rescue attempt on Friday. The chief spokesperson, R Adm Daniel Hagari, said: “The forces raided a Hamas site and eliminated terrorists who had taken part in the abduction and captivity of hostages.”
