Jaylen Marselles Brown (born October 24, 1996, now 27 years old) has agreed to a five-year, US$304 million supermax with the Celtics. This is the biggest deal in NBA history.
Brown's salary through 2029:
2024-2025: $52,368,085
2025-2026: $56,557,532
2026-2027: $60,746,979
2027-2028: $64,936,425
2028-2029: $69,125,872
Total: $303,734,893
Since the beginning of the 2023 NBA offseason, Jaylen Brown's potential supermax contract has been a discussion point among fans around the world.
After earning himself a spot on the All-NBA second team last season, Brown is eligible for a five-year $295 million supermax contract, the largest contract in NBA history. Then minutes ago, the deal reached $304 million, more $9 million than predicted.
Jaylen Brown surpassing Nikola Jokic ($276.1 million)
The 2020 draft class is securing the bag this offseason.
-Ant Edward for Timberwolves ($260M / 5 years)
-LaMelo for Charlotte Hornets ($260M / 5 years)
-Tyrese Haliburton for Indiana Pacers ($260M / 5 years)
-Desmond Bane for Memphis Grizzlies ($207M)
US$1 billion combined. All of them are less than 24 years old.
At least 17 NBA players have a (minimal) $200 million / 5-year maximum contract.
As I know, in other sports, Michael Schumacher was paid US$82 million in 2005, yes, just for 1 year, with Ferrari. Schumacher regularly renewed 1 year contract, not consecutive years contract. All of US$82 million donated to Earthquake - Tsunami victim in Indonesia - Maldives - Thailand (December 26th, 2004). Adjust inflation, US$82 million maybe around US$190 million / year in 2023.
Ferrari will offer Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonFREng a £40million contract. The company's president John Elkann is said to be in close contact with the seven-time world champion, such is their desire to get this deal over the line.
It's believed Ferrari's preferred option is to partner Hamilton with current driver Charles Leclerc, which would see Carlos Sainz Jr leave the team. An alternative option is Leclerc moving to Mercedes to partner George Russell.
Mercedes are reportedly determined to keep Hamilton on board. Ultimately, Hamilton's decision is likely to come down to which team can offer him the best chance of winning a record eighth world title. Schumacher won five world titles while driving for Ferrari.
Ferrari are the most successful team in F1, winning 16 Constructors' Championships and 15 Drivers' Championships. Yet they have not won either competition since 2008. Ferrari are fourth in this year's Constructors' Championship with one podium to their name.
Red Bull, who are leading this year's Constructors' Championship, are unlikely to offer Hamilton a drive due to the presence of reigning, two-time world champion Max Verstappen. The Dutchman's current deal doesn't expire until the end of 2028.
Another option is a move to Saudi Aramco - Aston Martin, who are not afraid to hire an older driver. Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso Diaz, 41, is currently on their books and performing well, with the team sitting second in this year's Constructors' Championship.
The Jets and QB Aaron Rodgers have worked out, subject to signature, a revised contract that smooths out a salary of $1.165 million in 2023 and a mammoth compensation package of $107.55 million in 2024.
But money in the NBA is really absurd, gigantic. Again, 4 young NBA players secured a combined US$1 billion of maximum contract (5 years).
Even with standard contracts in the EPL (English Premier League, football / soccer competition), football players will be jealous of NBA contracts. Median of contract in EPL around (if converted with US$) US$4 million per year, highest ever so far in the world for football or soccer only. Unless, IF the Saudi League (football / soccer) paid at least 150 players with a median US$ 12 million / year. So far (until July 25th, 2023, 2.50pm Washington DC), a crazy contract or at least bigger than US$10 million / year just paid for 21 football / soccer players in Saudi. 22, Because newcomer Jordan Brian Henderson.
At least 21 football / soccer players (now 22, thanks Jordan Brian Henderson), before playing years in Europe league, agree to play for at least 8 clubs in Saudi (with range salaries between US$200k - US$800k / week, arguably higher than in Europe) for new season started August 11, 2023 (with new name Roshn Saudi League —- thanks for ROSHN Saudi’s property company), following Cristiano Ronaldo last year.
Liverpool captain Jordan Brian Henderson is one of a handful of prominent male soccer players to have actively supported the LGBTQI+ community. But his move to Saudi Arabia leaves those in the community feeling let down. His move matters for a lot more reasons than hypocrisy. "Just at the moment where LGBTQI+ people may benefit from allyship, sport is rowing back and Henderson is just one encapsulation."
February 2023, just months after German national team use “rainbow” ribbon when playing in Qatar (World Cup 2022), as support LGBTQ+, Germany secured mammoth energy deal with Qatar.
Henderson will receive US$903k / week (700k pounds / week), or US$55 million / year. The biggest in Saudi still Cristiano Ronaldo, US$200 million / year.
Jordan Brian Henderson to be 22nd players in Saudi league with salary more than US$10 million / year.
Saudi still targeting Mbappe (US$1 billion all-in package not only salary), Sadio Mane (US$100 million / year).
But if you are a legend of football / soccer, you may get crazy money, more than NBA.
Lionel Messi of course already has 1 goal for Inter Miami. He was saying no for (a lot of reporting) US$1 billion salary by Al Ahli—of course Al Ahli under gigantic Saudi SWF Public Investment Fund, and not including (money for) another contract, name rights, etc.
Saudi Arabia is trying to pay Kylian Mbappé Lottin US$776 million to play for Al-Hilal for one season.
For comparison:
US$531M: LeBron James' all-time NBA earnings
US$494M: Patrick Mahomes' deal through 2031
US$450M: The value of the Arizona Coyotes
US$367M: The New York Mets' entire payroll
US$332M: Tom Brady's all-time NFL earnings
US$225M: The 2023 NFL Salary Cap
US$185M: The value of the Seattle Storm
US$157M: Tiger Woods' career PGA earnings
Detail about lucrative offer to Mbappe, 1 year, $1.1 billion:
• $332M transfer fee to PSG
• $776M salary for 1 season
Back to Messi again.
When Apple signed its 10-year, $2.5 billion deal for MLS broadcast rights just over a year ago, the tech giant certainly wasn’t anticipating becoming the exclusive worldwide home of Lionel Messi in its first season.
But that’s exactly what happened. Now, all Messi’s game with Inter Miami can only be viewed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+
When it comes to acquiring more live sports rights, Apple’s ambitions appear limitless.
Apple senior vice president of services Eddy Cue pushed back on the idea of buying a package of Premier League rights that would be limited to a specific country or region.
“We’re a global company,” Cue explained in an interview with the Daily Mail. “We have customers in every country in the world … and it’s not exciting for me to have something that you can have but you can’t have.”
Apple didn’t want to miss out. The effort to lure Messi was so great that the league’s sole media partner agreed to share revenue from MLS Season Pass with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
With Messi’s arrival, Apple’s global rights to distribute MLS games become that much more valuable. Before, it would be hard to understand why many fans outside the U.S. would be interested enough in purchasing a subscription — but now the possibilities are endless as fans from every corner of the earth want to get a glimpse of the superstar in Miami.
“It makes Apple look really smart,” sports attorney Irwin Kishner.
Priced at US$99 per season for non-Apple TV+ subscribers — now down to $49 for the remainder of the 2023 campaign — MLS Season Pass had already been beating internal expectations for signups and viewership.
Next season could be the real money-maker for Apple as Inter Miami gets a full season of Messi and will look to make a championship run.
Cue’s comments corroborate Apple’s thought process as it negotiated for rights to NFL Sunday Ticket last year. That package would’ve been exclusive to U.S. viewers, but in order to attract more customers, Apple was thought to have wanted to offer the service for a lower price — or even free alongside an Apple TV+ subscription.
The NFL wanted NFL Sunday Ticket to remain a premium product and sold it for an annual $2 billion to Google, which is charging up to $489 for the product on Youtube TV.
“I can’t justify throwing what I think are the best engineers in the world on a small subset product,” Cue added.
What does that mean for other properties interested in partnering with Apple, like the NBA or Pac-12?
“This isn’t ‘Hey, I’ve got an opening from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight, and I’m going to put this game on,’” Cue said. “That’s not the way we’re doing it. We’re all-in on this from an investment point of view, so it doesn’t work unless it’s something significant.”
But in same time, if specific just U.S. and UK, homeless rocketed, when gigantic money goes to sportsmen / sportswomen in U.S. and UK. Don’t forget, Argentina, Messi’s country, too often hyper-inflation.
